Scarsdale on alert! Westchester County decided to alert some of it’s residents of a potential contamination to our drinking water. A failure to meet treatment requirements notification was included with select water bills. Presumably delivered to those potentially effected by the problem throughout Scarsdale, White Plains and parts of Yonkers. The details include water that is brought in from Kensico reservoir is to be chlorinated, which provides virus inactivation. However it goes on to say that the levels of chlorine were not sufficient to do the job – think about that. Not enough toxic chemicals added to our water to make it healthier? Perhaps new can’t leave it up to municipalities to safeguard our drinking water. If this isn’t reason enough to consider a whole home water filtration and purification system, we’re not sure what it.
